Dr. McCall was born in Cedar Rapids, IA, but raised in western Illinois on a beef cattle farm. Though his family had the usual variety of dogs and cats (i.e. what are typically considered traditional pets), because of his time spent showing cattle, a number of their herd were "gentle as pets." After graduation from veterinary school, in 1994 Dr. McCall married his wife Molly. He worked in Bartonville, near Peoria, for four years after graduation then later in Decatur for one year before joining the Capitol Illini team in 1996. Dr. McCall and Molly have two children, Gracie and Sean, a cat named Spot, and an Australian Shepherd named Misty. In his free time Dr. McCall enjoys attending his children's various activities and volunteers frequently to speak at area schools about the veterinary profession. His favorite leisurely activity however, is golf and he can consistently be found tearing it up at Piper Glen Golf Course and Edgewood.
