Dr. Dunphy joined Capitol Illini in 1995. Born and raised on a farm in White Hall, IL, Dr. Dunphy's exposure to animals began at an early age. After graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Dunphy spent four years at a mixed animal practice in Buffalo, NY. However his roots were calling him home and in 1978 he moved back to Illinois and opened his own farm and companion animal practice in Carlinville Illinois where he practiced for 17 years. Even today, steadfast clients from his previous practice make the trip to Springfield to continue receiving his expert veterinary care. Dr. Dunphy and his wife Cathy share their home with a rambunctious brood that includes two St. Bernards, a Newfoundland, two cats, and one goose. Dr. Dunphy is actively involved in the Newfoundland Club of America Charitable Trust which supports canine research and Newfoundland rescue. In his spare time Dr. Dunphy enjoys water rescue and cart training with his dogs, restoring and racing his prized 1972 Mustang and fishing.
