Although Dr. Myers joined Capitol Illini as a veterinarian in 2005, her career here began long before she became a veterinarian. Born and raised in Springfield, Dr. Myers knew even at an early age she wanted to spend her life caring for and helping others. Even before she was hired as an assistant at Capitol Illini Dr. Myers had gained invaluable experience with animals through her work at the Animal Protective League. Her involvement with the APL and employment at Capitol Illini solidified Dr. Myers' commitment to a career in animal medicine. Each of the doctors practicing at Capitol Illini during Dr. Myers' assistant days strongly encouraged and unfalteringly supported her. Dr. Melvin Geiger, a well- known and much-loved veterinarian who practiced at Capitol Illini for 37 years, was especially influential in Dr. Myers school and career choices. Dr. Myers chose to study abroad at Ross University; a U.S. affiliated university located in St. Kitts on an island in the Caribbean. After completing her courses at Ross University, Dr. Myers concluded her studies with a year of clinical experience at the University of Illinois and graduated in January 2005. Dr. Myers was readily and enthusiastically welcomed back into the Capitol Illini family in February 2005 and she has once again made herself an indispensable part of our staff. Dr. Myers is also a proud mother of her son, Joey and two dogs, Bailey and Ella.
