 Capitol Illini takes pride in 45 years of service to the Springfield, Chatham, and surrounding communities. Capitol Illini has made itself a part of local history with its original establishments located on North 2nd Street in Springfield and on 6th and Carpenter (presently the Imaging Center). The original founders of Capitol Illini included Dr. Charles A. Starling and Dr. Joseph L. Brewer in 1962, with later additions of Dr. Melvin Geiger in 1967, and Dr. William H. Wright in 1969. The present day Wabash location was purchased in 1969 with the addition of a newly built Chatham location in 1996. Presently, Dr. William Wright continues ownership along with Dr. Clyde E. Dunphy, Dr. Byron R. McCall, and Dr. Martha M. Armour. Dr. Kris K. Myers and Dr. Paul E. Mardis are also recognized as a part of our associate professional staff. We are surrounded by a veterinary staff of 25 employees dedicated to continued growth, to better serve and meet the needs of our clientele.
Capitol Illini is a highly acclaimed facility featuring AAHA accreditation. AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association) develops the standards of accreditation as a way of assuring excellence in companion animal care. The categories of standards deemed necessary include quality of care, diagnostic and pharmacy, management, medical records, and facility.

Our goal at Capitol Illini is to provide high quality, compassionate, patient-oriented, veterinary services. We strive to provide the most advanced yet safe, veterinary care to our patients. Our clients are well educated about their pets, which allow them to make the best health decisions.
We acknowledge veterinary medicine as an honorable and treasured profession. The pride we experience is demonstrated through community participation in high school and college career days, in addition to preschool through elementary school tours. |
