- Member American Veterinary Medical Association
- Member Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association
- Member of American Animal Hospital Association
Dr.
McCall was born in Cedar Rapids, IA, but raised in western Illinois on
a beef cattle farm. Though his family had the usual variety of dogs and

his time spent showing cattle, a number of their herd were "gentle as
pets." After graduation from veterinary school in 1994, Dr. McCall
married his wife Molly. He worked in Bartonville, near Peoria, for four
years after graduation then later in Decatur for one year before
joining the Capitol Illini team in 1996. Dr. McCall and Molly have two
children, Gracie and Sean, a cat named Spot, and an Australian Shepherd
named Misty. Misty, a highly trained performer, does agility with
Molly. In his free time Dr. McCall enjoys attending his children's
various activities and volunteers frequently to speak at area schools
about the veterinary profession. His favorite leisurely activity
however, is golf and he can consistently be found tearing it up at

Kris K. Myers, DVM
Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, 2005
- Member American Veterinary Medical Association
- Member Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association
Although Dr. Myers joined Capitol Illini as a veterinarian in 2005, her career here began long before she became a veterinarian.
Born and raised in Springfield, Dr. Myers knew even at an early
age she wanted to spend her life caring for and helping others. Even
before she was hired as an assistant at Capitol Illini Dr. Myers had
gained invaluable experience with animals through her work at the
Animal Protective League. Her involvement with the APL and employment
at Capitol Illini solidified Dr. Myers' commitment to a career in
animal medicine. Each of the doctors practicing at Capitol Illini
during Dr. Myers' assistant days strongly encouraged and unfalteringly
supported her. Dr. Melvin Geiger, a well- known and much-loved
veterinarian who practiced at Capitol Illini for 37 years, was
especially influential in Dr. Myers school and career choices. Dr.
Myers chose to study abroad at Ross University; a U.S. affiliated
university located in St. Kitts on an island in the Caribbean. After
completing her courses at Ross University, Dr. Myers concluded her
studies with a year of clinical experience at the University of
Illinois and graduated in January 2005. Dr. Myers was readily and
enthusiastically welcomed back into the Capitol Illini family in
February 2005 and she has once again made herself an indispensable part
of our staff. Dr. Myers is an active volunteer with the Animal
Protective League and Feral Spay Neuter Assistance Program. She lives
in Dawson with her husband Steve and their two dogs, Bailey and Ella.
Dr. Myers is also a proud mother of her new son, Joey.

Paul E. Mardis, DVM
University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, 2005
- Member American Veterinary Medical Association
- Member Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association
Dr. Mardis grew up in Bloomington, IL and attended the University of
Illinois for his undergraduate education where he met his wife, Rachel.
They stayed in Champaign for vet school where Dr. Mardis worked in
various research laboratories assisting in projects looking at genetic
markers that may predispose animals to certain diseases such as vaccine
associated sarcomas in cats and salmonellosis in swine. He and his wife
have two daughters, Alina and Skyler. After graduation Dr. Mardis spent
two years working at a small animal practice in Lemont, IL (a southwest
Chicago suburb). A more affordable cost of living, a desire to be
closer to family and the excellent quality of medicine practiced at
Capitol Illini have attracted Dr. Mardis to Springfield where he and
Rachel look forward to having a backyard big enough to accommodate
their family, pets, and a future garden. |
