Capitol Illini Veterinary Services would like to welcome you to our practice and introduce you to our long history of serving companion animals. We pride ourselves on having provided quality service to the Springfield, Chatham, and surrounding communities since 1962. Capitol Illini has been an important part of the local history since its original establishment located on North 2nd Street in Springfield. The original founders included Dr. Charles A. Starling and Dr. Joseph L. Brewer. Dr. Melvin Geiger later joined the practice in 1967 and Dr. William H. Wright in 1969. Presently, Dr. Wright continues ownership accompanied by Dr. Clyde E. Dunphy, Dr. Byron R. McCall, and Dr. Martha M. Armour. Dr. Kris K. Myers and Dr. Paul E. Mardis round out our highly qualified and professional veterinary associate staff. Capitol Illini is staffed by a number of dedicated employees who make it their top priority to meet and often exceed the needs of our varied patients and clientele.
Capitol Illini is a highly acclaimed facility featuring *AAHA accreditation and has grown over the last several decades to include ultrasonography and endoscopy. We also have veterinarians who harbor special interests in a variety of areas including orthopedic and exotic medicine. Other services provided include a comprehensive pharmacy, dental care, immunizations, general wellness services, senior wellness exams, behavioral as well as internal medicine, microchip identification, a surgical suite equipped with anesthetic monitoring, nutritional counseling, radiology (including Penn Hip and OFA), pain management, clinical laboratory, and bathing facilities.
