Dr. Jessica Carie

Originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, Dr. Jessica Carie earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Miami in Florida. Her love for wildlife and exotic animals led her to Alaska, where she worked for eight years with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, studying walruses, sea otters, sea lions, fisheries, and polar bears.

After years of adventure, Dr. Carie pursued her lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian and attended Colorado State University. She spent five years practicing small animal general and emergency medicine in Colorado before relocating to Springfield with her family to be closer to home.

Dr. Carie joined Capitol Illini in May 2025 and has been in veterinary medicine for nine years. She is passionate about the human-animal bond, preventive care, and diagnostic ultrasound. At home, she has a dog named Lou and a pig named Helga—and a fun fact: she once kept pet tarantulas in high school!
