Digital Radiology

Digital X-rays

Digital x-ray images give us an enhanced look at your pet’s internal health. At Capitol Illini, we use digital radiographs to quickly diagnose medical issues in the cardiopulmonary (heart and lung), musculoskeletal, abdominal, reproductive, and urinary tract systems systems.

The x-ray images are processed in multiple viewing stations, and the entire procedure is fast, safe, and efficient. We also offer PennHIP and Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA), radiographic screening methods that evaluate hip and elbow dysplasia. PennHip can predict the onset of osteoarthritis, and early diagnosis of this joint disease helps improve treatment options for your pet.

Ultrasound

Animal receiving ultrasound

Capitol Illini's Dr. Armour offers on-site ultrasound, a non-invasive diagnostic imaging tool that is helpful in identifying specific health conditions in cats and dogs. Ultrasounds are painless and provide real-time images that greatly improve your pet’s overall health diagnosis. Abdominal ultrasounds are a good way to determine if your pet has cancer, pancreatitis, kidney stones, viable pregnancies, and some types of intestinal and urinary blockages.

Ultrasound is only available at our Springfield location.

Endoscopy

Endoscopy instrument

Veterinary endoscopy is a minimally invasive alternative to surgical diagnosis. At Capitol Illini, Dr. McCall uses endoscopy to examine your pet’s intestinal organs and to obtain biopsies. Endoscopy offers an alternative to surgery by using high-tech fiber optics. An endoscope instrument is inserted through natural openings in your pet’s tract systems, and the small camera scope shows what’s going on inside your pet. Endoscopy visualizes internal structures of the esophagus, stomach, some small intestine, and colon.

Endoscopy is only available at our Chatham location.

Additional Diagnostic Procedures include Laparoscopy, Rhinoscopy, Cystoscopy, and Additional Diagnostic Procedures. To learn more about Capitol Illini’s diagnostic services, please contact us today.
